Kick Off Winter At The Gray Ghost Inn

Look no further than the Gray Ghost Inn for comfortable lodging close to Mount Snow Ski Resort. Here in Southern Vermont, a lot of people noted this week as the start of winter weather. The Gray Ghost Inn saw its first measurable snow Tuesday, and they’re making snow at Mount Snow. And you know what that means — ski and snow board season is just about here.

Stay with us Thanksgiving Weekend and you can participate in the first of Mount Snow’s early winter festivities — Winter Wonderland is November 24, with a torchlight parade, fireworks, and even a visit from Santa.

Late Fall Fun in Deerfield Valley

Foliage season is still underway here in Southern Vermont, and what better way to celebrate than with the weird but fun Gilfeather Turnip Festival in nearby Wardsboro, VT.  The festival honors the unusually large and lumpy looking Gilfeather Turnip, a local delicacy that’s surprisingly delicious.  Even if you don’t like turnips (and you might like these) you’re bound to enjoy the local color and homespun charm of this agricultural tradition, now in it’s 16th year! Stay at the Gray Ghost Inn, your hub for autumn leaf peeping, early Christmas shopping, and yes, Gilfeather Turnip tasting (although you’ll have to go to the festival to get your fill).

Summer Festivals in Southern Vermont

Summer is a great time to visit southern Vermont — the air is warm, the hills are green, and the atmosphere is conducive to serious relaxing. Here at the Gray Ghost Inn, we’re ready and waiting to make sure you have a wonderful stay. Ride bucolic Vermont back roads, browse antiques shops and open air markets, and enjoy some of the best food in New England at the many great restaurants in the area.

There’s plenty to do here in July but one of the area’s annual highlights is the Blueberry Bash from July 27 through August 5. Come and sample fabulous blueberry pies and other goodies, or enjoy beer and barbecue (blueberry-themed) at Mount Snow.

Welcome Summer with Memorial Day, Strolling of the Heifers Weekend
